During October,
the teachers on our program from ten schools in Kuala Krai created a
Puppet Theater for each of their schools, with decorations, paint, and a fridge
box. In many cases their students helped to decorate the theater, making it
part of the schools English activities
Once a theater was
created, the teachers asked a very important question," Where can we find the
Puppets? " especially in a rural area,
where probably very few stores sell puppets, so the solution was to simply create their very own puppets.
During one of our
monthly afternoon workshops, the teachers from Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang
discovered "How to make a sock puppet," using lots of imagination, with a vast
array of colorful buttons, socks, wool and other materials.
At the end of the monthly
workshop, each teacher took home their own sock puppet, and plan to have a
puppet making language arts class with their students, who can then use their
own puppets along with the school theater, in a class or school puppet show, nurturing the creativity of the children, whilst at the
same time allowing them to practice English in a fun,and imaginative way.
